Minnesota slowcore deities Low have a gift for making some of the most gorgeous Christmas music you ever heard, something you already know if you’ve ever heard their 1999 LP Christmas. Today, they’ve come out with an absolutely stunning new standalone single called Some Hearts (At Christmas Time). It’s an original song, built on a murmuring synth and a spare guitar figure and Mimi Parker’s otherworldly voice. I’ve played it three times in a row already, and I don’t see myself stopping anytime soon. Listen to it and read a Christmas message from the band below.
December 2016: To friends who have moved away and friends who have passed on this year. To one and all, especially those who are alone, we wish you a Merry Christmas and new hope for the new year. May we all find ways to lift each other. With love, Mimi, Alan and Steve. Low Some Hearts (at Christmas Time). December 2016: To friends who have moved away and friends who have passed on this year.
Some Hearts" is a song written by Diane Warren. The track was originally written for Belinda Carlisle, who recorded it as a demo for her 1987 Heaven on Earth album, but it was not included on the album. It was released as a single by Marshall Crenshaw from his 1989 album, Good Evening, but it failed to chart.
The album was recorded at the London Wembley Arena to a sold out crowd and included two previously unreleased tracks from the band: Take Cover and Caroline. Straight to DVD II: Past, Present and Future Hearts Q&A.
