ALBUM, TITLE: Black Horses. Release year, date: 2014. Lynden was brought in at a much later date after auditions in London. Lynden's musical contributions to the Jerusalem album were only the lyrics on 3 songs, the music of which I wrote. He was also tutored how to sing the songs. Bob Cooke warned me that Lynden was once again going to use the Jerusalem name even though the music bears no relevance to Jerusalem and Bob didn't even perform on Black Horses or this new one. I'm also surprised that a professional company like Angel Air Records would have allowed Lynden to use the name and support such a release under that name.

Black Panther The Album is at its best when channeling Wakanda’s innovative spirit and self-sustaining ethos, characteristics we have already come to associate with Kendrick. He is one of the most ambitious MCs there is, a rapper of nearly unlimited potential who operates like a well-oiled machine. Kendrick has five official features on the album, but he appears somewhere on every track. The flute-led Big Shot, with its whiny sing-song and forgettable Travis Scott verse, is a misfire. And the album-closing tag-teamer, Pray For Me with Kendrick Lamar and the Weeknd, is just a watered-down reanimation of the Tesfaye’s recent solo work- Starboy -lite.

Though informed by the blaxploitation soundtracks of the ‘70s and the label-driven hip-hop soundtracks of the ‘90s, Black Panther: The Album is very much of its time: a well-produced and incredibly cohesive album with the loose swagger of a curated playlist.
