Track Listing: 01. Waiting for a Hit; 02.

Manifesto, the debut recording by Dan Berg and the Gestalt, introduces a major new voice to the world of contemporary music, one consciously changing the manner in which modern sounds are created and heard. The overall product strikes a smooth balance between groove and art, visceral and cerebral, the popular and the esoteric. With Manifesto, Dan Berg and his colleagues refuse to be pigeonholed into any single category of artistic expression. Instead, they combine their disparate musical backgrounds into an eclectic new sound

Manifesto, the debut release from Dan Berg & The Gestalt, may be one of 2010's best recordings. With touches of Tin Hat Trio, bits of rock, Latin and the occasional operatic vocal, Manifesto has a broad appeal that fits contentedly within the overall scheme of the collection.

Manifesto, the debut release from Dan Berg & The Gestalt, may be one of 2010's best recordings. Berg's eclectic tastes would not be a surprise to those aware of his cultural studies in Havana, or his work as an activist. Right from the opening "Waiting for a Hit," it's clear that Berg is up to something different. An ethereal, wordless vocal from Kristin Young melds with bassist Matt Wigton and Pat Agresta's rock-oriented drumming.
