Ghost Stories (Coldplay album). Ghost Stories is the sixth studio album by British rock band Coldplay. Co-produced by the band with Paul Epworth along with returning Mylo Xyloto producers Daniel Green and Rik Simpson, it was released by Parlophone on 16 May 2014. The album was released by Atlantic Records in North America on 19 May 2014.

Ghost Stories is unmistakably Coldplay's "breakup album," a subdued work that finds Chris Martin and his band crisply moping through mid-tempo soundscapes and fuzzy electronic touches that have the visceral impact of a down comforter tumbling down a flight of stairs. Ghost Stories Q&A.

Album · 2014 · 9 Songs. Chris Martin’s heart-rending falsetto floats along in a haze of synth-washed ambience (as on the entrancing Kid A–influenced Midnight ) or sparely accompanied by acoustic instruments ( Oceans, O ). Ghost Stories demonstrates the expressive power of understatement. Ghost Stories Coldplay. Listen on Apple Music.

Ghost Stories Live 2014 is the fourth live album and a concert film by the British alternative rock band Coldplay. The album, a live recorded version of the band's sixth studio album Ghost Stories, was released by Parlophone in the United Kingdom on 24 November 2014.

1. Always In My Head - "Ghost Stories" begins with what sounds like literal ghost stories, as Martin admits to sleepless nights while a faceless voice floats behind him. As guitar curly-q's float upward, the singer sounds more broken than ever, as if every insecurity hurts to say aloud in fear that it will become true.

As one who was looking for a return to the old days after the pop adventure of Mylo Xyloto, Ghost Stories proved to be one of the harder albums of Coldplay's to get into. However, after giving the album more of a chance, my stance softened and I began to appreciate the dark atmospheres and electronica-influence. Though it's unlikely that any of the songs would break into my top 10 - or even 20 - songs of theirs', I do keep coming back to some of them in a way that I haven't with most post-Viva la Vida tracks. "Another's Arms" is easily the best one here. I must also make particular mention of the following A Sky Full of Stars EP, the tracks on which I wish could replace the more dreary entries in Ghost Stories. Were this the case, Ghost Stories could easily be the best post-2008 release of Coldplay's.

Leaner but more thematically focused than their previous works, Coldplay returns to their darker side with Ghost Stories, a marriage between the darker themes of early Coldplay with slick new production.

"Ghost Stories" serves as the dark, ethereal center of the Coldplay rock opera trilogy. The trilogy starting with the epic and colorful "Mylo Xyloto" and ending with the bright and infectiously danceable "A Head Full of Dreams". "Ghost Stories" is essentially if you took the mood and lyrics of "Parachutes" and combined it with the sound "Mylo Xyloto". With some truly "magical" ;) moments and a uniquely haunting atmosphere, "Ghost Stories" shines mighty bright. Listen to this driving at night and let yourself go to a place where only Coldplay can take you.Favorite:Always In My HeadMagicMidnightOceansA Sky Full of StarsOLeast Favorite:Another's ArmsGrade:B

Coldplay's sixth album "Ghost Stories" is pure, ambient bliss. Containing the light, soft rock style Coldplay always delivers, it is lightly mixed with today's fresh production tricks. The best moment is definitely "A Sky Full Of Stars", which is probably their best song since "Clocks", containing a similar sounding piano.RATING- 7 / 10---------------------------------------------Track Picks:Always In My HeadMagicInkTrue LoveA Sky Full Of Stars---------------------------------------------

GS is, to me, a pretty boring album. The lyrics are unoriginal and have little to no variety across the album's 9 songs. The music is rarely ever flat-out bad, but it is often boring and largely uninteresting again and again on this album. "Stars" has generic music and lyrics that I have a hard time commending. "Midnight" is probably my favorite song off this album in terms of music. It is the most distinctive and original song off this lackluster album; it actually sounds pretty good. When all's said and done, I don't care for GS. The music is way to slow and boring, and the lyrics are too generic and shallow to really be enjoyed. Still, the production is high-quality and pretty well done for the most part; it's just not my cup of tea.
