The entire first side is first rate - especially First in Line Love Affair, Wolf, and Tennessee Walker. This album is not to be missed and Sal Valentino has never sounded better.

Listening to this record - available in most good 2nd hand stores for a few bucks - you can imagine that this is what the BBs would have sounded like had they continued the musical arc started with their last 2 LPs ending in '68's legendary Bradley's Barn. As it stands, and despite the reunion of most of the original band, this is not a classic by any means. What you get is a selection of solid country and folk pop tunes with the kind of harmonies you would expect from that time and place - mid 70s California. In that context, the album makes a lot of sense and is not a bad effort considering everyone was jumping into the (by then) tepid waters of West Coast music. Beau Brummels was a likeable testament to a scene they had helped popularize.
