Listen free to Nordic Connect – Spirals (Travel Fever, Song For Inga and more). Spirals manifest themselves across art, nature and life in varied ways. The geometric spiral image might even be seen three-dimensionally, with infinite depth or point-of-view added or perhaps spinning in perpetual motion. There's movement and implied energy in the curling image. Engendering reflection, a spiral goes from and to somewhere.
Nordic Connect: Spirals by AAJ Italy Staff, published on September 1, 2011.
Nordic Connect: Spirals by Jerry D'Souza, published on January 26, 2011. In assimilating several moods, the music created an emotionally resolute ambience. Since the release of the CD, the band as toured Canada, the USA and Scandinavia, recording its follow-up,Spirals, at the end of 2008. Pianist Maggi Olin wrote most of the compositions, with contributions also coming from trumpeter Ingrid Jensen, saxophonist Christine Jensen and drummer Jon Wikan
Their follow-up recording also focuses on original works. Ingrid, gifted with a warm, sensitive sound on trumpet and flügelhorn, is a potent soloist, while her composition "Earth Sighs" has an eerie air with a sense of foreboding.
Nordic Connect : Spirals is a post bop music album recording by INGRID JENSEN released in 2011 on CD, LP/Vinyl and/or cassette. No release results found : showing artist results instead. Here on Earth Enja Justin Time 2004.
Members: Christine Jensen, Ingrid Jensen, Jon Wikan, Maggi Olin, Mattias Welin. Spirals (CD, Album).
Their band mates are Maggi Olin on piano and Fender Rhodes, Mattias Welin on acoustic bass and Jon Wikan (Ingrid’s husband) on drums and percussion. Spirals is an intriguing CD, built around the band’s cohesion and the quality of the original material that comprise its nine tracks. The tunes I savor most included Olin’s Song for Inga and Ingrid Jensen’s Earth Sighs (both containing artful dollops of electronic effects) and the quintet version of Christine’s Yew, which premiered on her Juno Award-nominated orchestral album treelines (JustinTime). It’s a beauty in both formats.
