Other than a Japanese release for Baystate in 1973, this CD contains the initial recording by Max Roach's all-percussion unit M'Boom. Featured on the nine selections (all group originals, other than Thelonious Monk's "Epistrophy") are up to eight players, including Roach, Roy Brooks, Joe Chambers, Omar Clay, Fred King, Ray Mantilla, Warren Smith and Freddie Waits, utilizing all types of percussion instruments - vibes, tympani, chimes, timbales, marimba, xylophone, and so on.

M’Boom Re:Percussion, the legendary ensemble featuring a multitude of ts that was assembled and founded by jazz master Max Roach in the 1970s, is reuniting under the leadership of original member Joe Chambers for a special concert featuring the KBz Strings and special guests. The concert will take place at the Woodruff Arts Center’s Rich Theater, 1280 Peachtree St. NE, Atlanta, GA, 30309 on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 8 pm.
