Like many modern works for the guitar, the two expansive sonatas of Hans Werner Henze's Royal Winter Music were instigated by Julian Bream. The pieces are cast in identifiable forms associated with the Classical sonata, but each movement is also a study of characters from Shakespeare's plays, somewhat subjectively rendered but perhaps recognizable in mood, if not through any more explicit features.
It includes baroque guitar and vihuela music, but not lute music. This music is most commonly performed by classical guitarists and requires the use of a variety of classical guitar techniques to play. 1979 Hans Werner Henze (1926-2012) Royal Winter Music II. 1979 Dang Ngoc Long (born 1957) "The Central Highlands of Tay Nguyen". 1993 Eduardo Martin (born 1956) Album de la Inocencia. 1993 Terry Riley (born 1935) Ascención. 1993 Toru Takemitsu (1930–1996) Equinox. 2004 Olli Mustonen (born 1967) Jehkin Iivana (Sonata for Guitar). 2004 Kurt Schwertsik (born 1935) Ein kleines Requiem, op. 97.

The Schott site makes no reverence (Tippet's Blue Guitar, for example is mentioned as revised so the errata sheet is no longer necessary). I've posted this in the public section of the forum to cast the widest net. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Location: anchorage, alaska.
