Diary of a Songwriter. Diary of a Songwriter.

After graduating from Oklahoma University where he attended on a baseball scholarship, Tim moved to Los Angeles where he simultaneously pursued a singing and acting career

Singers and Songwriters was a 19-volume album series issued by Time-Life in the US, during the early 2000s, spotlighting songs from the singer-songwriter era of the 1970s.

James Anthony Sullivan (August 13, 1940 – disappeared March 6, 1975) was an American singer-songwriter and guitarist who released two albums before he disappeared without a trace in New Mexico. Sullivan grew up in the Linda Vista area of San Diego, California, where his Irish-American parents had moved from Nebraska to work in the defense industry. A tall man, he was a high school quarterback

Though Tim Hardin was revered enough in his day to play the Woodstock festival, he died in 1980 at 39, largely forgotten, after struggling for years with heroin addiction. Now, however, his legacy as one of the most gifted talents of the dawning folk-rock era is getting an overdue boost. Most of Hardin’s songs are marked by a gorgeous aching that’s apparent on the tribute album, which was produced by the . label Full Time Hobby. Okkervil River’s Will Sheff gladly contributed a cover of It’ll Never Happen Again.

Tim Hardin: Tim Hardin 1 (1966). When former marine Tim Hardin died in 1980, aged just 39, there was deep sadness within the music industry at the loss of man described by Joe Strummer as a lost genius of music. Tim Hardin 1 contains some of his most frequently covered songs, including ‘Don’t Make Promises’. I’ve always prided myself as a songwriter more than anything else, the Tennessee star said. The title song of Coat Of Many Colors is one of country music’s most touching songs about childhood. Country singer-songwriter Lucinda Williams’ fifth studio album was a painstaking one, taking six years to make after having been recorded twice from scratch.

In 1969, Sullivan recorded his debut album . backed by a bevy of ace Los Angeles session musicians. But by 1975, a disillusioned Sullivan left . for Nashville to look for work. He never arrived in Music City. Sullivan vanished into the desert of the southwest without a trace. Sullivan, in the gatefold of a 1970 remix of the project for Century City Records, offered insights into his hard-scrabble beginnings as the seventh son of a Nebraska farmer that came to the big city during World War II to work in the defense plants. I decided that I would like to play music when I would sit and listen to the blues groups practicing around various houses.
