Budapest Symphony Orchestra, Tamas Pal, Jenö Jando Konzert für Klavier und Orchester in A Minor, Op. 16: I. Allegro molto moderato in A Minor. Bela Bartok Piano Concerto N1, S. 3 (1926) - I. Allegro moderato (Jeno Jando, Andras Ligeti - Budapest Symphony Orchestra, 1994).

The Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra (also known earlier as Budapest Symphony Orchestra) (Hungarian: Magyar Rádió Szimfonikus Zenekara; MRZE) is a Hungarian radio orchestra, official site. It is part of the Hungarian Television and Broadcasting Organisation, Magyar Rádió. The Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra (also known earlier as Budapest Symphony Orchestra), was founded in 1943 by conductor Ernst von Dohnányi.

The Budapest Symphony Orchestra is highly underrated and is a very good band indeed. The fact that the whole thing, the CD that is works together is probably due in no small measure to Andras Ligeti the conductor. The orchestra accompaniment is quite good as well. I was pleased that the brass of the orchestra did not "blare" too much. I have found the brass on other recordings of Grieg's concerto to be slightly offensive. That is not the case on this recording. Jando plays with a great of energy throughout the Grieg concerto. He is especially effective on the third movement. He plays a long piano run toward the beginning of the third movement differently from any other recording that I have heard.

Jeno Jando (piano), Budapest Symphony Orchestra, Capella Istropolitana, Camerata Cassovia, Andras Ligeti, Adrian Leaper, Richard Edlinger, Stephen Gunzenhauser, Alfred Walter. Grieg: Norwegian Dances, Op. 35: No. 2 in A major (arr. for orchestra). Grieg: Peer Gynt Suite No. 1, Op. 46 (excerpts).
