Rosalie Allen was born in Old Forge, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania (some sources give her given birth name as Julia, or Juliana rather than Julie) Allen grew up the daughter of a Polish immigrant miner in a family of 12 children in Pennsylvania. During the Great Depression, at age nine, she worked as a dishwasher to help with the family's finances. Inspired by the singing cowboys of the 1930s, Allen taught herself to sing and play her brother's guitar  . Her final album was The Queen Of The Yodelers, released in 1983.

Rosalie Allen in 1950. The earliest SJ-200s had a 26″ scale – longest of any production Gibson six-string designed for standard tuning – but that spec was short-lived before moving to 25½" for most of its pre-war run. Before 1940, it had an aped bridge with threaded bone saddles; after, it had an open-end mustache bridge with a traditional flat-top saddle. In fact, overall specifications on the Deluxe Jumbo and Super Jumbo 200 were evolving at such a pace the model was, in many ways, a work in progress. One star who played the SJ-200 was Rosalie Allen, Queen of the Yodelers. Born Julia Marlene Bedra in 1924, she was the daughter of a Polish-immigrant chiropractor in Pennsylvania, and at the age of 22 had a hit with a yodeling remake of Patsy Montana’s I Want To Be A Cowboy’s Sweetheart.

Rosalie Allen (born Julie Marlene Bedra in Old Forge, Pennsylvania on June 27, 1924), who would one day be billed alternately as "The Prairie Star" and "Queen Of The Yodelers," decided early on in life that that was to be her career after being enthralled with the Singing Cowboys of the movies such as Ken Maynard, Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, Tex Ritter and. The Sons Of The Pioneers.
