Album: The Jazz Modernists 1924-1933, 2009. Red Nichols & His Five Pennies play "That's No Bargain" on Vocalion 15498, recorded on December 8, 1926. Musicians here are Red Nichols, Jimmy Dorsey, Arthur Shutt, Eddie Lang, and Vic Burton.

Ernest Loring "Red" Nichols (May 8, 1905 – June 28, 1965) was an American jazz cornettist, composer, and jazz bandleader. Over his long career, Nichols recorded in a wide variety of musical styles, and critic Steve Leggett describes him as "an expert cornet player, a solid improviser, and apparently a workaholic, since he is rumored to have appeared on over 4,000 recordings during the 1920s alone.

Dale Nichols operated in a zone that was midway between high art of the sort exhibited in prestigious museums and calendar art and commercial illustration. He himself viewed his work and his calling in an extremely lofty light. He liked to think of himself as on a par with the great old masters, such as Caravaggio, and he also believed that he had special insights into the workings of the universe and thus was something of a prophet or seer. While he did paint some other subjects, Nichols is best known for just one, which he painted in seemingly endless permutations: a red barn resting in a snowy field against an intensely blue sky, with a foreground containing figures engaged in traditional agrarian tasks, very often with a figure in a sleigh or wagon.

That's Bargain Hunt, presented by a team of antiques experts. Once the teams have shopped for their antiques, the experts go shopping with any leftover money. But there's a catch! Just because it has been bought by an expert doesn't mean that it's going to make money - it's a gamble all round. Before the sale, our presenter and the auctioneer discuss the chances of each item making or losing money for the teams

That's No Bargain" was composed by Red Nichols. Jimmy Dorsey plays his famous saxophone rendering of the "Tiger Rag" as his solo. If you enjoy 20sJazz. See the complete catalog of 20's jazz videos.

Weezer (The Red Album) Q&A. What have the artists said about the album? According to Rivers Cuomo in 2008: The Red Album is our boldest and bravest and showiest album. I know for a fact that if you have a red car, you’re more likely to get pulled over. That’s how the album feels to me. It’s breaking laws and speeding - getting into trouble.

For all the things that make you go "Of COURSE that's a thing". Well, anytime you stumble upon a subreddit that makes you go "of course that's a thing", post it here for the rest of Reddit to gawk at. Also feel free to post other people's ". Non-subreddit things are welcome as well.
