Or, are we going to learn from them, and allow for it to be a lesson that lasts, which we can do something with, and turn the past errors it in to a positive before we end up in a place where we can’t come back from
Bitter End. Jonny Lang. The beast is back out of his lair I swear I think I've heard this story before Now everybody's running scared Barring up the windows and locking the doors And it's a mind full of fear Making everyone you know Look like strangers to you And everything you hold dear Feel it slipping through your fingers And there's nothing. Why? And if we cross the line Can we go back again? Or will we keep repeating history Until the bitter end. A man's hands take life He washes off the blood And pretends that they're clean The same hands save lives He lifts them in the air For everybody to see. The enemy is a friend And the friend becomes The enemy again And again and again, well.

Jonny Lang asks on "Bitter End," which was inspired by the stream of headlines after Donald Trump became president of the United States. In a Songfacts interview with Lang, he said: "This stuff has happened in human history before throughout all kinds of civilizations that failed. It's just in a different form - in a modern form. The same thing but with different tools. It's just the thought of, Are we going to learn from history or just keep plowing forward and make the same mistakes? What are we going to do?"
