Released on September 11, 2015 for Republic Records, the album features guest appearances by Paul McCartney, Robby Krieger, Orianthi, Dave Grohl, Christopher Lee, Slash, Brian Johnson, Joe Walsh, Perry Farrell, and Zak Starkey amongst others.

The original The Hollywood Vampires included such greats as Morrison, Hendrix, and Lennon, all sitting around drinking each other under the table, and now so many are gone. The flats and sharps arrangement of this song have a melancholy, eerie feel to it. It is a good reminder of those who have passed and left so much for us to enjoy, and a reminder of those who can still contribute much.

The Hollywood Vampires – return with new music from their explosive second album, Rise. Rock and roll royalty Joe Perry, Hollywood superstar Johnny Depp and shock rock icon Alice Cooper join forces once again for the unmissable rock album of 2019. Seconds into the opening track I Want My Now, it’s clear this supergroup has created something special – the chemistry between the individuals is unmistakeable when they come together on stage or in the recording studio

Rise is the album that fans of both Hollywood Vampires and Alice Cooper have been waiting for since the project was first announced earlier in the 2010s. It’s almost all originals, and what sparse cover songs there are sound absolutely heartfelt and continue the tribute theme quite well. What’s more, Joe Perry and Johnny Depp‘s contributions are much more noticeable this time around.

Easily makes the list of one of the top five albums I've heard so far this year. As an homage album, it's incredible...and the musicianship is excellent.

Hell of the funny Rock'n'Roll record. You might listen it just in case of curiosity - even if you had already heard gallons of annoying covers. Just don't listen it till the dusk and don't forget to drink some first.

I was never a huge fan of most of Alices cover songs, so I didn't really have my hopes up for this album. The problem with covers of well known songs is that a lot of people are tired of them. Alices' voice and another sound won't put the song back on any of my playlists, even though it may be fun to hear another take on it.However, in my mind Alice has earned his right to do pretty much what ever he wants musically, and it's easy to hear that he, and I'm sure everybody else contributing, had a blast making this record. But if there will ever be another album by the Hollywood Vampires, I hope it will be an album of original material, rather than covers.

The really big problem with this album is that when you change subtle nuances of a classic song like the bass fills on "My Generation" or the vocal cadence of "Whole Lotta Love" you have to make sure it's done to the absolute best and the song isn't otherwise a faithful cover. This happens on this album and I found that annoying. When you consider American Idol winner Adam Lambert's rendition of the Led Zep classic this version is not worth bothering to listen to because it adds nothing and the vocals are incomparable to Plant's original. We jump to the already Cooper perfected "I Got A Line On You" which eclipses the original to become the definitive version of the song. This version here is good and if you don't know the Alice Cooper cover from the soundtrack to Iron Eagle II you should give it a listen. There are some good moments on this album and the few that I found annoying aren't terrible either. I like the Bad Finger classic "Come & Get It" but it isn't ever going to be the version I go to when I want to hear the song. When they do something worth like "Jeepster" which is done very well here. I'd have liked Cooper to have made it a little more theatrical and vaudevillian with more interesting instrumentation. Tinkling toy xylophones, squeeze boxes and kazoo's with large marching band drums banging. Just needed more creativity. It's still good just could have been so much more in the end. In my opinion the second best cover here is "Cold Turkey" and it's even got a modern rock sound to it. I don't see why rock radio shouldn't play this track in medium rotation. As the album nears it's closing track they do a cover of "Itchycoo Park" and as good as it is (and it's really good) there is an obscure and little known cover from the sophomore Blue Murder album which is again the definitive version of the song. This version here is solid and the record scratch interruption near the end is well placed and entertaining. I also like the Schools Out/Another Brick In The Wall merging. Cooper sounds snotty and pissed off as he snarls through his classic epic. The band is tearing it up on the track as well which really helps sell another Coop covering himself. The albums two original tracks are top notch and I'd prefer to have had more of this and less of the cover songs. So hopefully this project does well enough to garner more original material.
