The rare (for Breuker) use of guitar and bass guitar also evokes the Italian master. The pieces making up the Kkkomediant suite include tangos and music drawn from the carnival, the latter casting an affectionate nod toward Nino Rota, who scored many of Fellini's greatest films. The brevity of many of the pieces might frustrate some listeners wishing that the lovely melodies and arrangements were explored in greater depth, but this collection still stands among Breuker's better soundtrack work.
