There is nothing bad with synth-driven pop music like in this album, that delivers some amazing hook lines ("Let's Pretend"), glitzy horn arrangements by Jerry Hey and a singer who is on top of the rhythm even in the most hectic arrangements. The subtle arrangement of the ballads "Fallin'" and "After All", where a growling bass meets delicate string arrangements, the high-speed horns contrasted by a funky clavinet in "Imagination" and the cozy boogie of "Murphy's Law" - all this sounds sometimes old-fashioned, because the samplers and synthesizers in the 80s simply sounded that way. But these better songs still show solid craftmanship and neat songwriting. The only drawback are the weaker songs (and there are some like the opener), which simply sound outdated today.

I love this whole album and I can (and do) listen to the whole thing singing all of the words.
