Michael Franks and Band were phenominal last evening at the Detroit Opera House. They were the second act on a 3 artist bill, and wish they had the stage for the entire evening. This is really Jazz at its best. Michaels voice sounds great and the band was so tight. They covered music created over the last 40 years and hit so many great tunes. I go to 100+ concerts a year, and nothing beats an evening with these Jazz masters. I cant wait fot the next show. Report as inappropriate.

Michael Franks (born September 18, 1944) is a jazz singer and songwriter. In 1976 Franks released his second album The Art of Tea, saw Franks begin a long relationship with Warner Brothers Music. The Art of Tea featured Joe Sample, Larry Carlton and Wilton Felder of The Crusaders and included the hit song "Popsicle Toes". His third album, Sleeping Gypsy (1977), which includes the song "The Lady Wants to Know", was partially recorded in Brazil. Around this time, percussionist Ray Armando gave Franks a cabasa, which became a signature instrument for him to play on stage when he was not playing guitar
