Blackout is the fifth studio album by American singer Britney Spears. It was released on October 30, 2007 through Jive Records. Opting to re-establish her music career after her fourth studio album, In the Zone (2003), she began planning the project in 2006. Work continued into 2007, during which time Spears' much-publicized personal struggles, including several instances of erratic behavior and her divorce from Kevin Federline overshadowed her professional endeavors.

Blackout is the fifth studio album by American recording artist Britney Spears, released on October 25, 2007 by Jive Records, four years after her previous studio album In the Zone. Spears started writing songs for the album in November 2003, and began experimenting with a more acoustic sound. Following her marriage with Kevin Federline in 2004 and the birth of her first son the subsequent year, she begun recording the album in 2006 with producers J. R. Rotem, Danja and Kara DioGuardi.

There's hardly been a media Blackout for Britney Spears' next album, especially after many of the songs purportedly recorded for it leaked onto the Internet. But as it turns out, few of those tracks are on Blackout - most of the leaked songs may have been demos - and the album contains some of Spears' strongest material from these sessions

Listen free to Britney Spears – Blackout (Gimme More, Piece of Me and more). Blackout is the fifth studio album by American pop singer Britney Spears, released by Jive Records on October 27, 2007. Spears began working on this album as early as February 2006, exploring into electropop, synthpop and techno. The album has also a more R&B/urban sound and recording with new producers such as Danja.

Britney Spears, Blackout. If you believe Brendan Behan's line about all publicity being good publicity, then Britney Spears' fifth album may well be the best-promoted release in pop history. By contrast with poor old Britney, everything in Amy Winehouse's world is going just swimmingly.

If anyone wants to know what pop music is all about, this is one of the albums to start from...Perfect pop!!

A modern pop masterpiece, Blackout is Britney's darkest album and easily one of the best pop albums of the 2000s. Completely electro-pop, this album includes genre influences such as: Dance-pop, electro-pop, Euro disco, funk and most importantly possibly the first instance of a mainstream artist adopting dub-step (see Freakshow). I could go on but the bottom line is that this album has AMAZING production and is perfect for the club scene. You must listen to this album otherwise you are missing out.Stand out tracks include: Get Back, Freakshow, Break The Ice, Gimme More, Ooh Ooh Baby, Heaven On Earth & Get Naked (I Got a Plan)
