This contains straight-up reissues of two of T-Bone's Imperial albums, themselves merely collections of the original 78s. Everything on these 24 sides was recorded between 1950 and 1954 - not as trailblazing a period as the one from 1946 to 1947 on Black and White, but still prime T-Bone by any yardstick. The majority of these sides were cut in Los Angeles, with the exception of the New Orleans-recorded "I'm Still in Love With You" and the Windy City cut of "Bye Bye Baby

ALBUM, TITLE: Singing the Blues. Release year, date: 2014. Country: USA. STYLE: Vocal Jazz, Blues. LABEL: HighNote Records - HCD 7267. In 1964, Cole made his LP debut with a fine, blues-tinged collection called Waiter, Ask the Man to Play the Blues. It should have set him on the path to stardom, but he sounded a bit too much like big brother Nat. Nat died just a year later, and Freddy has long since established himself as both a major name and a superlative interpreter of the Great American Songbook. Now, at 83, he revisits the blues, at least in part, bringing to such classics as Goin’ Down Slow, This Time I’m Gone for Good and Muddy Water Blues (also included on Waiter) a gravel-paved sagacity.

The same year's SINGING THE BLUES remains true to concept as well as reaching the US album charts at with Brook's co-composed title song also hitting amongst the pop singles. The bluesy mood includes the rhythm and blues styled CHAINS OF LOVE, SEND FOR ME, PLEDGING MY LOVE and a revised blues setting for the popular WILL YOU STILL LOVE ME TOMORROW? amongst the dozen themed songs. Jerry Kennedy and his Orchestra plus The Merry Melody Singers provide the accompaniment.

The Genius Sings the Blues is an album by Ray Charles, released in October 1961 on Atlantic Records. The album was his last release for Atlantic, compiling twelve blues songs from various sessions during his tenure for the label. The album showcases Charles's stylistic development with a combination of piano blues, jazz, and southern R&B. The photo for the album cover was taken by renowned photographer Lee Friedlander.
