Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart wrote at least five violin concertos between 1773 and 1776 in Salzburg, Austria, most likely for his own use as concertmaster of the Archbishop of Salzburg's orchestra. This concerto is scored for violin solo, 2 oboes, 2 horns and strings, and was composed in Salzburg on April 14, 1773 or 1775. The date is uncertain. There are three movements: Allegro moderato; Adagio; Presto.

Mozart's concertos are still some of the most widely performed - horn concertos, clarinet concertos, violin concertos, piano concertos. They're all as popular as they ever were, but why? Showing off came naturally to Mozart, so it's probably not a huge surprise to learn that composing concertos, a showboater's medium if ever there was one, was something that he did extremely well. Nearly all of his concertos are still performed regularly today and some of them have become absolute staples of classical repertoire

The Violin Concerto No. 5 in A major, K. 219, often referred to by the nickname The Turkish, was written by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in 1775, premiering during the Christmas season that year in Salzburg. It follows the typical fast-slow-fast musical structure. Mozart composed the majority of his concertos for string instruments from 1773 to 1779, but it is unknown for whom, or for what occasion, he wrote them. Similarly, the dating of these works is unclear
