The label has not shied away from strongly pianistic readings of the sort that were heard 50 years ago, when Scarlatti was one of the few Baroque composers known outside small circles of performers and supporting enthusiasts. Nicolosi uses heavy dynamic contrasts and plenty of pedal. In the faster works he is given to bending the tempo a bit, especially toward the ends of phrases.

Francesco Nicolosi, SCARLATTI, . Keyboard Sonatas (Complete), Vol. 9. Used drive : HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GSA-H58N (revision . 1)
Francesco Nicolosi’s Scarlatti playing is unabashedly pianistic in its wide dynamic range, discreet octave transpositions in the bass register, and liberal yet never garish use of the sustain pedal. You couldn’t imagine a period harpsichord replicating the massive sound Nicolosi unleashes in the D minor K. 52’s slow chords, nor the G minor K. 111’s split-second forte/piano contrasts in echoed phrases .
