There is no more exciting document of live performance in the history of R&B: powered by tireless drummer Clayton Fillyau, James Brown and the Famous Flames tear their way through a slew of King hits-from "Please, Please, Please" to "Night Train"-taking soul power to the very edge of gospel abandon in the process. The Apollo audience, hysterical with adulation, plays as big a part in Live at the Apollo as Brown himself. Perhaps the best James Brown album around and it's live!! My goodness this is the hardest working man in show business and you must not miss his best album.

James Brown - Soul Power (Live At The Apollo Theater/1971) Lyrics. Know we need it, soul power We got to have it, soul power Know we want it, soul power Got to have it, soul power Give it to me, soul power W.
Over their 50-year history, band members have come and gone with almost alarming regularity. It's no surprise that, as of September of 2018, there are two versions of Yes on the road. During that tour, they recorded a stop at the Apollo Theater in Manchester, England, a show that's been preserved on the DVD and Blu-ray 50th Anniversary Live at the Apollo. The sound and visual are fantastic - sharp and encompassing, they transport viewers right into the concert.
Brown was further vindicated when the LP peaked at Number Tw. The James Brown of Live at the Apollo was an ace balladeer years removed from inventing funk, but what Mr. Dynamite did deliver to the famously tough Apollo fans was a relentless, driven set steeped in the church, the cotton field and the juke joint, pushing his waistband-tight musicians. like a drill sergeant. Gospel-soaked vamps such as Try Me, I Don’t Mind and the ten-minute-plus showstopper Lost Someone are testaments to Brown’s ability to wrap sexuality in the Lord’s cloak
