Recorded live in Japan to mark the 25th anniversary of Coltrane's death Elvin joined Wynton Marsalis, Marcus Roberts and Reginald Veal to perform A Love Supreme. Hearing ALS with a trumpet rather than saxophone is strange but the trumpeter and the drummer get stuck into a very worthwhile version. It took me several repeated listenings to A Love Supreme before I completed this fine album. I hightly recommend this recording. 2 people found this helpful. This is BY FAR Wynton Marsalis' finest hour as a jazz musician. His playing here is absolutely on fire and swinging beyond belief. Elvin and Marcus Roberts are also outstanding.
