On his third album, Steven Emerson strips things down to the bare essentials, often hanging his delicately disarming folk-pop tunes on nothing but his breathy, Nick Drake croon and his poignantly picked acoustic guitar lines. Song of Love is the sound of a man whose soul has some miles on it, as he pauses on his journey long enough to impart a few artfully phrased observations on The Big Topics – love, loss, memory, hope – the sort of subjects that sink sophomoric songwriters while allowing honest, impassioned workers in song like Emerson to shine.

Steven Emerson, a self-proclaimed terrorism expert, has a history of making sensationalist warnings about terrorist threats. Since the 9/11 attacks and the onset of the war on terror, Emerson has played a key role in promoting what some observers describe as Islamophobic rhetoric, arguing that civil rights groups like the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) are terrorists sympathizers and that liberals like President Barack Obama coddle Middle East terrorists.

Emerson, Lake & Palmer, also commonly referred to as ELP or EL&P, were a popular English progressive rock group formed by members of The Nice (Keith Emerson), King Crimson (Greg Lake) and Atomic Rooster (Carl Palmer). The band are notable for their classical and jazz influenced compositions, virtuoso musicianship and over-the-top live performances. Crimson album-never mind ELP-means his place as an important rocker is sealed. In The Court Of The Crimson KIng and the other great tracks on that album have become classics and it is mainly down to obviously great songwriting, but also to his vocals which were just perfect for those tracks-the perfect fit.
