God Is Good is the fourth studio album by heavy metal band Om. It was released in 2009 on Drag City. The album was recorded at Electrical Audio by Steve Albini and is the first studio album by Om to feature the new drummer Emil Amos. Om. Emil Amos – drums, percussion. Al Cisneros – bass guitar, vocals. Additional musicians. Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe – tambura, vocals. Lorraine Rath – flute. Jackie Perez Gratz - cello.
Chants and prayers, laid out with a heaviness that would make Heston-as-Moses blush. dense hashish reeking doomy grooves that sound like they stumbled out of a Midnight Express Turkish prison to mutter impenetrable Biblical verses and make your head hypnotically nod. Brilliant and unique. pierrelefou I know everyone loves the older stuff, but this to me is where Om started really becoming a totally singular entity. Thebes could be 5 times as long and it would just get better and more majestic.
In general, the album is sequenced awkwardly. The first two tracks have vocals and are around 19 and seven minutes long, respectively. Closing out the album is the instrumental two-part "Cremation Ghat" suite, which is about eight minutes long. It feels more like a coda than a song. That's too bad, as it's the most interesting section of the record. Not only is the first part more lively than Om's typical lope, but both parts feature tamboura. This is a mixed blessing. On one hand, it adds color to Om's sound
The best album lamb of god have done so far, from the kick ass balls-to-the-wall riffs to the awesome production. Easily the best album they've done so much so, that I tattooed the flaming bird off of the album cover to my arm. Laid to rest, now you've got something to die for, the faded line and ashes of the wake will always be seen as the most popular lamb of god songs. The songs in this album feature frequently in all their set lists to this day. enough said . That being said, SuD has its weak moments, but all is forgivable when head banging 90% of the time. So yeah, Sturm and Drang is a good time indeed. If you are new to Lamb of God, I completely recommend starting here. I think it is an awesome album and the band is awesome too.
