The Rough Guide to Dub is a world music compilation album originally released in 2005. Part of the World Music Network Rough Guides series, the release covers the roots of dub music, focusing on the period 1973-1980. Curation was performed by Steve Barrow, co-founder of the record label Blood and Fire, who also compiled The Rough Guide to Reggae and authored its companion book. Phil Stanton, co-founder of the World Music Network, produced the work.

The Rough Guide to Boogaloo aims to change that, nicely showcasing the trademark blend of Cuban salsa rhythms and American soul. Notable luminaries dominate the album, including Tito Puente, Charlie Palmieri, Ismael Rivera, and Willie Colon. Bobby Valentin riffs confidently on the Batman theme, which perfectly showcases boogaloo's inherent ability to bend and shape various genres and styles. In fact, rock and blues influences are naturally included throughout the collection.

Boogaloo is essentially North American Latin Soul music — the marriage that came as a result of bicultural Spanish Harlem.

If your knowledge of Hungarian music is limited to your knowledge of classical composer Franz Liszt and you thought Hungarian music was all folk and violins, you’d be like me. You’d also be in for a bit of a surprise if you then heard up this album. If you plan to listen to this album whilst relaxing with a Horlicks before bed, then with a few notable exceptions, you may as well have 5 double.
