11. Transparency 12. Venus. John Tchicai, the Afro-Danish saxophonist who was born in 1936, is one of the few remaing active players whose roots lie in the New Wave of Jazz in the sixties. He formed the New York Art Quartet, and later the New York Contemporary Five with Archie Shepp and Don Cherry, and recorded with Coltrane, Ayler and many more.

John Martin Tchicai (April 28, 1936 - October 8, 2012) is a Danish jazz saxophonist. He was one of the earliest European free jazz musicians. He is of Danish and Congolese descent. Tchicai studied violin in his youth, and in his mid-teens began playing clarinet and alto saxophone, focusing on the latter. By the late 1950's he was travelling around northern Europe, playing with many musicians.

Tchicai enters chunteringly on Wet, beside Lillinger’s battery of drums. On A Double Mescal he blows a breathy flute while Westergaard’s bass delves out a springing riff and Lillinger clips the rhythm forward. Double Exposure is the album’s longest track, its 14 minutes full of the Tchicai-Dell duo. There are two complex mind-processes here inventing the notes.
