You and Me Both is the second and final studio album by British synthpop duo Yazoo, released on Mute Records in July 1983. The album's title was an ironic reference to the fact that the duo had grown estranged from each other and recorded much of the album separately, and they announced their split a few weeks before the album's release

Records In. a Warner Communications Company.

The story goes, Yazoo already split when "You And Me Both" hit the shelves. From the distance of almost thirty years now, it should be regarded as a masterpiece in its own right, despite some of its obvious drawbacks. Reply Notify me 2 Helpful. While other songs may contain good structure or well-crafted sounds, none have its consistency and combination of these elements. Success seems to have gone to Moyet's head, who perhaps more boldly lent herself songwriting duties.

You and Me Both Tracklist. 1. Nobody's Diary Lyrics.

Perhaps a more consistent collection overall than the first album, this one demonstrates that the duo was anything but played out. While both have gone on to successful careers, you can't help regretting that this was the end of Yaz. Track Listing.

"You And Me Both" continues the winning formula of the debut although at points it is let down by a bit of filler (Good Times, Happy People, and Clarke's thinly-veiled rewrite of Just Can't Get Enough, Walk Away From Love). Clarke ditches his more experimental inclinations here, and the result is a more consistent listen than the previous "Upstairs At Eric's" was. The Moyet-penned Nobody's Diary was a deserved final hit for the duo. But it was on the simply splendid, brilliantly minimalist Ode To Boy that Clarke and Moyet were to polish their unique chemistry to its absolute perfection. It is a testament indeed to the fated pairing of talents in Yazoo that Clarke and Moyet could fashion such a wonderful LP despite their not being able to stand being together in the recording studio. (Clarke would lay down the tracks first, then Moyet would come in later and provide the vocals.) A real shame, and the enmity between the two of them shows up in the sardonic album title. But what a legacy they have left us. Lightning in a bottle.

Yazoo could have given Eurythmics a run for their money, but Vince Clarke had other plans.I wonder what he regret the most: this, or quitting Depeche Mode...
