Rocky Mountain High is the sixth studio album released by American singer-songwriter John Denver in September, 1972. It was his first US Top 10 album (no. 4), propelled by the single "Rocky Mountain High", and in addition reached no. 11 in the UK. The album's cover photograph was taken at Slaughterhouse Falls, Rio Grande Trail, Aspen, Colorado. John Denver – 6 & 12-string acoustic guitars, vocals, arrangements. Gary Chester – drums, percussion. Eric Weissberg – banjo, steel guitar. Following a residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts in 1997, Samantha Whelan Kotkas decided to combine her passion for music and storytelling with her interest in early education and created the Rocky Mountain Fairy Tales. She teamed up with composer Keon Birney and visual artist Lynne Huras and released her first children's CD entitled Rocky Mountain Fairy Tales in 2000. As a child, Samantha spent much of her time exploring the trails and hiking the mountains that surround her family's cabin in the Alberta Rockies
