The nationally acclaimed Fightin' Texas Aggie Band is the largest military marching band in the United States. Aggies don't cheer - they yell. And instead of cheerleaders, you'll see yell leaders dressed all in white on the sidelines directing Aggies in carefully orchestrated yells. The night before every football game, Aggies hold Midnight Yell, a special event regularly attended by thousands of fans. 1998Maroon Out. Performed by University of Alberta Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Concert Band. Conductors: Angela Schroeder and Glenn Skelton. Presented by the Department of Music. Sunday, March 20 at 3 . This large ensemble, directed by Angela Schroeder, has been a University of Alberta tradition since the early 1960s. The Department of Music was established in 1965 and Concert Band officially became a departmental ensemble in 1968. The band studies and performs a wide range of repertoire, but focuses on the standard classics, including popular and contemporary pieces. The Symphonic Wind Ensemble is a group of 50 of the University of Alberta’s most elite student musicians, directed by Angela Schroeder.
