KiKi KaiKai (奇々怪界, lit. "Mysterious Ghost World") is a shoot 'em up developed and published by Taito Corporation originally for Japanese arcades in 1986. Since then, the game has received a number of console and home computer ports in and outside Japan, both as a stand-alone title and as part of compilations. The game originally saw a limited release in North American and European arcades as Knight Boy, a bootleg copy of the original Japanese version not officially licensed by Taito.
Some of Kaiku's sparsely arranged downtempo material quickly settles into inert background music, as in "Good Voodoo," a house anthem addled by chronic fatigue, and "No Words Necessary," a wheezing plod that would work better as a 90-second piece of incidental film music than an eight-minute track in the middle of the album.

For his second album Joakim Ijäs, better known as Kiki, has fully gotten himself into these waves that form a creative process: phases in which everything seems clear - but also moments when things appear stuck and one remains uncertain about what step to take next to make a vision come to life. When I worked on the album there were situations when I had a very clear picture of what I wanted without knowing for sure how to realize it, so I had to take a short break. Each time this happened I found a solution after a few days that would solve my dilemma. Hence it is no big surprise that Kiki titled his album Kaiku - the Finnish term for echo.
