More than 35 years into his recording career, British progressive rock master Fred Frith (Henry Cow, Art Bears, Massacre, French Frith Kaiser Thompson, et. has finally released his first solo acoustic album. Conceived as a tribute to pivotal influences such as John Fahey and Robbie Basho, TO SAIL, TO SAIL is a beautiful, reflective album that creates a sense of wistfulness and nostalgia. Frith has never sounded so lyrical before, although the spiky, cerebral aspect of his music remains undimmed. TO SAIL, TO SAIL is a quiet, moving masterpiece.
