John Joseph Wardle (born 11 August 1958), known by the stage name Jah Wobble, is an English bass guitarist, singer, poet and composer. He became known to a wider audience as the original bass player in Public Image Ltd (PiL) in the late 1970s and early 1980s, but left the band after two albums. Following his departure from PiL, he went on to a successful solo career, continuing to the present. In 2009, he published his autobiography, Memoirs of a Geezer.

Jah Wobble in "Betrayal". Produced by musician Eddie Jobson, it was released in May 1980 through Virgin Records. A dispute over the use of rhythm tracks from his then band Public Image Ltd. on the album led to his departure from the band.

Producer, Arranged By, Performer – Jah Wobble. Notes ?" on label B3 listed as "Dan McCarthur" on sleeve, "Dan McCarther" on label. Really out there and weird, but with a deep, groovy beat. It sounds futuristic even today. Similar deconstructionist approach to the early Devo, but a little bit less whimsical and more dour. Reply Notify me 3 Helpful.

The album was created with no talking. If it weren't for John I wouldn't have started playing bass. I knocked around with him in 1976. One day, he said: "I'm going to be in a band. It was that Emerson, Lake and Palmer period – no one I knew was in a band. It was like someone saying they were going to be a brain surgeon. But I picked up a bass, and it instantly felt right. When John came out of the Sex Pistols he was willing to take a chance and do something radical

In 1997 "Jah Wobble" released his first album on his own label "30 Hertz" and this is the one "The Celtic Poets". Since Jah has done what he has wanted with some great results. Unusual to say the least with the components for his first on "30 Hertz" with Recitations, Traditional music, Ambient, Song, Electronica, Jazz and Jahs deep grumbling Bass being the components. Traditionalists were horrified and that is what immediately drew me to this one because what you have here is intricate fusion of all these styles and something that is very different with.
