Egon Petri (23 March 1881 – 27 May 1962) was a classical pianist. Egon Petri's family was Dutch; he was born a Dutch citizen, but in Hanover, Germany, and grew up in Dresden, where he attended the Kreuzschule. His father, a professional violinist, taught him to play the violin. While still a teen, Petri played with the Dresden Court Orchestra and with his father's string quartet. He studied composition and theory with Hermann Kretzschmar and Felix Draeseke at the Dresden Conservatory.
Back to the studios for the third time, the concept is pointed now to reach the finest mix between reggae grooves with seventies and eighties hits. Following the huge success of the first volume, we now present Jazz and 90s Vol. 2, where the greatest songs of the 90s, such as Aerosmith’s Amazing, Baby One More Time by Britney Spears, Lovefool by The Cardigans, 4 Non Blondes What’s Up and more appear in delicate and imaginative jazz versions. This is another album full of magic and unique glamour, where the songs we know and love acquire a new lease on life. It’s the perfect album for an evening with friends or as the soundtrack to a romantic dinner for two.
This is volume 2 of APR's valuable series on Egon Petri's recordings from 1929 to 1942, comprising Beethoven's sonatas 14 ("Moonlight"), 24, 27 and 32 (making up Petri's complete Beethoven recordings) and Brahm's Handel and Paganini variations plus three rhapsodies. A boon for the serious collector. Note that the set can also be found under Egon Petri: His Recordings 1929-1942, Vol. 2, so check the price. 4 people found this helpful.
