Times of Grace is the sixth studio album by Californian band Neurosis, released on May 4, 1999. It continued the band's development of the post-metal genre and demonstrates gothic rock and progressive rock influences. This album and Grace, an ambient companion by the band's alter-ego Tribes of Neurot, are designed to play alongside each other. Times of Grace marked the beginning of the band's ongoing working relationship with recording engineer Steve Albini.

GRACE: Recorded at Neurot Mobile. Mixed and mastered at Seismic Seance, SF. Grace is sonically designed to be played simultaneously with the Neurosis disc. Alone, it possesses the same dynamic flow, fundamental texture and emotional impact as Times Of Grace. Played together, these recordings create a unique multi-dimensional sound experience. ACTIVE listening is required to fully experience the multi-directional effects of this set. Grace is composed of sounds taken from Times of Grace, manipulated and combined with atmospheric textures to express the same tone and emotion of the original

Even so, Grace can stand on its own, although it's far from the alternative-metal rush of Neurosis; rather, it's a collection of sounds sampled from Times of Grace, then altered and combined with dark ambient textures (and occasional bits of dialogue) that complement the moods of the original songs. It functions better as background music than as intense listening; for full attention, it's better combined with Times of Grace. Taking the two together underlines the ambition of the project more effectively, and it's a more active and interesting experience.

In one way it's overambitious. When Times Of Grace first came out I thought it sounded hallow and empty. Missing the effects of Through Silver And Blood that added that extra something that made Neurosis so interesting since Souls At Zero. My friend who got me into Neurosis and I got our systems together to hear them both. Ahhhhh...there it was the missing element. Getting two nonportable stereo systems together had its disadvantages. I got a hold of a mixer and just put them together on one CD. I call it Full Grace and it's one of my favorite Neurosis albums.I do love listening to Grace on its own. I fell asleep to this for almost a year. Yet Times of Grace without it still seems hallow.
